For this 3D Art & Aesthetics interior project, I recreated Anne Valllayer-Coster’s Vase of Flowers and Conch Shell. Since I was working with free assets from various artists, I decided to ignore the textures of my flowers, and instead focus on their coloring, lighting, and composition.
Process
After finding a similar vase, I reshaped it to better fit the on in the painting
I used a doorknob model to stand in for the ornate handle
I clustered similar-looking flowers into groups to tackle one at a time, reusing models when necessary
I began placing my flowers, one group at a time
At this point, I also added the stone table bottom
I finalized my flower placement and camera angle
Going back to my sketch file, I planned out flat colors for each asset to look cohesive and faithful to the original, even without the proper textures
I added the colors to my assets and background
I began adding lights to recreate the painting, opting for a more dramatic effect
I continued tweaking the lighting and textures until I was satisfied with the results
