For this 3D Art & Aesthetics interior project, I chose a reference photo from Reddit. The room has a unique look and feel: a sloping ceiling and window, a variety of textures, and a limited number of objects filled with character.
Process
I modeled the walls, accentuating the sloping angle for a more dramatic effect
I carved out two sources of light — one off the render view, with direct sunbeam to show off the different textures.
I focused on the jukebox and lamp first, as the central focal points of the scene.
After finding the right plant for the scene, I modeled the paint layers and picture frames.
I began adding the textures for my supporting objects and surfaces
To make the sign as faithful as possible, I traced the lettering on Illustrator and imported the vector into Maya
I spent some time getting the jukebox to be as reflective as possible
As a final touch, I modeled new cylindrical legs for the pot holder to match the original
Production Steps
From reference photo to final image
Post-Production
From my .tif render, I brightened the image and added a soft light gradient with pinks, oranges, and deep purples to bring about a warmer effect. Lastly, I punched up the jukebox reflection using a white overlay gradient.
